![]() Click on station names below for more details of each station. AvoncliffAvoncliff is served by hourly all-stations First Great Western trains on the Bristol to Westbury line. Many northbound services continue to Gloucester or Great Malvern, and many southbound services continue to destinations as diverse as Weymouth, Brighton and Portsmouth harbour. Bradford-on-AvonBradford-on-Avon is served by two First Great Western trains each hour in each direction - a stopping train on the Bristol to Westbury route, and the limited stop Portsmouth to Cardiff trains. Since May 2011, First Great Western also operate one through train to and from London (Paddington) on weekdays. South West Trains also serve Bradford-on-Avon, providing three direct trains to and from London (Waterloo) on Mondays to Saturdays. Dilton MarshDilton Marsh is served by trains operating on the Salisbury to Westbury route. Most northbound trains continue to Great Malvern, although a few run no further than Westbury. In the southbound direction many terminate at Warminster although a few continue to further destinations such as Southampton, Brighton and Portsmouth harbour. Those that continue to Salisbury make it possible to change for South West Trains services to London (Waterloo) or stations to Exeter. There are however some quite long gaps between services during the day. MelkshamMelksham has just two trains each way per day. Southbound trains at 06:41 and 19:11 originate from Swindon or further afield and continue on to Salisbury and Southampton. Northbound trains at 07:19 and 19:47 originate at Westbury and continue to Chippenham and Swindon. Melksham is on the 'Trans-Wilts' route, and has it's own very active pressure group which campaigns for improved services. TrowbridgeTrowbridge is served by two First Great Western trains each hour in each direction - a stopping train on the Bristol to Westbury route, and the limited stop Portsmouth to Cardiff trains. Since May 2011, First Great Western also operate one through train to and from London (Paddington) on weekdays. South West Trains also serve Trowbridge, providing three direct trains to and from London (Waterloo) on Mondays to Saturdays. There are also two trains per day in each direction on the 'Trans-Wilts' route to and from Chippenham and Swindon via Melksham . These are timed at 07:10 and 19:38 for Chippenham and Swindon, and 06:50 and 19:20 returning to Westbury. This makes for a faster Trowbridge to Swindon journey than via Bath, and saves having to change trains. WarminsterWarminster is served by the First Great Western hourly limited stop trains on the Cardiff to Portsmouth route. These also serve Salisbury and Southampton (southbound) and Bath, Bristol and Newport (northbound). Changing at Salisbury makes it possible to use South West Trains services to London (Waterloo) or stations to Exeter. South West Trains also serve Warminster, providing three direct trains to and from London (Waterloo) on Mondays to Saturdays. Some services from Westbury terminate at Warminster, and there are also two trains a day on the 'Trans-Wilts' route from Swindon and Chippenham (dep 06:16 and 18:44 from Swindon). There are no corresponding northbound services. WestburyWestbury is a major interchange of all the above routes with the main London Paddington to West of England route. It is served by the hourly Cardiff to Portsmouth services, "Heart of Wessex" line Bristol to Weymouth services, South West Trains Bristol to London Waterloo services and many other shorter distance local trains. There is an express service to London (Paddington) run by First Great Western via Reading, calling at most of the pricipal stations en route. Westbound trains call at Taunton and Exeter with many continuing onwards to Plymouth and into Cornwall. The two 'Trans-Wilts' trains in each direction also call, providing a more direct route to Chippenham and Swindon via Melksham and save having to change at Bath Spa. . Options available to you
